1. So I start work a week from today, which means I have to get two school projects done this week. I would usually stress out about it, but school is really all I've got on my plate right now, so it shouldn't be too bad. I'm going to keep applying to library jobs (like I've been doing like whoa), but it's really nice to have a little something here to keep me busy.
2. DC is seriously awesome. It took me a while to adjust to it, but I love the Metro, love walking a lot, love getting to know new people, and especially love Georgetown. Our apartment is ridiculously close to all the best shopping in DC; what's not to love!? It's not feeling like home just yet, but it's feeling very comfortable, and our place is starting to look like a place where people live. For a couple of weeks, it looked completely empty and sad. Now we have a couch, rug and even lights! Things are looking up!
3. I've already voted by absentee ballot for Florida, and I'm not paying attention to anymore political stuff. Soo over it.

John Paul and I are moving to DC this weekend! Tomorrow, to be exact. Oh my goodness, I am so ready to head up there.

The semi-annual update [Feb. 11th, 2008|06:31 pm]
John Paul and I have herb babies! He's flexing his green thumb and has cilantro, basil, dill and another mystery herb (coriander?) growing on the porch next to the rosemary. It smells sooo good out there!
Two years down, a lot more to go with us. We drank fantastic wine and had an unbelievable meal to celebrate.
I officially have all of my grad school applications in and am having mini panic attacks because the rest of my life is in someone else's hands. The whole thing just makes me feel really nervous and anxious. Yes, those words mean the same thing, but you have to combine them to understand how stressed this whole thing really is.
The thing I am mostly looking forward to after graduating is Europe. JP and I are planning an 18-day lovefest with Spain, Switzerland, France and Italy in May and if anyone has tips or places we should visit, speak up. We need all the help we can get!
Life is good. No complaints here. Except I wish this stupid writer's strike had never happened because there will be no new episodes of Pushing Daisies until next season, which sucks.

[Current Music |Rogue Wave and Sugababes]

This school year is going to be a good one. Reasons:
JP and I have already gotten the whole sick thing out of the way early.
I am living in sin with the greatest roommate in the history of roommates.
Even though it's a lot of reading, my classes will be a good time and yoga is saweet.
I am finally old enough to go to bars and not totally waste my time.
Even though St. Augustine is missing some people from last year, there are some fun people I've met recently and I'm determined to actually make plans with them instead of just always saying I will.
There's already a show lined up in Oct. at HOB.
I'm working two jobs, but one is right across the street (literally) and the other I'm just working a couple shifts a week.

Can I be totally cheesy and gross everyone out? On one of our first nights here, John Paul set up his record player and we danced to Peter Frampton's "Baby I Love Your Way" because, yes, we are definitely THAT couple.

By the way, there is a guest room in the new place and it's open to almost anyone. We want visitors!

FYI [Jun. 28th, 2007|06:30 pm]
So, because I am an ubernerd, I went to the ALA (American Library Association) conference last week and had a total blast! In a couple of days, my mom and I:
met Julie Andrews (Sound of Music? Mary Poppins?)
took pictures with Garrison Keillor
heard Ken Burns speak (and saw clips of his new 14-hr documentary of World War II, which isn't out till Sept)
heard Judy Blume speak, and she was so darn cute!
got to see a sneak peek of the new Anne Hathaway film, Becoming Jane
attended the premiere of Hollywood Librarian, which was about, what else, librarians
met a ton of authors, got autographed copies of their books for free
heard Lois Lowry read live from The Giver.

Next up: move stuff into the new place on King Street on Saturday, go visit John Paul in Atlanta Sunday, back to real life next Friday.

This was not a good semester for couples.
Or lack thereof.

Not that anyone really reads this anymore... [May. 8th, 2007|11:09 am]
My landlord can seriously suck it.
Marie and Michelle are out of town, everyone's moved back home, and John Paul is in stupid Italy looking at stupid art. (I'm really just horribly jealous of him being in Rome, eating fresh mozzarella.)
On the upside, I'm working alot, Jordan and Jess are coming to visit me tonight until tomorrow, and I'm finding my domestic goddess side. I'm going to paint some furniture, try some new recipes, I sewed up some holes in my pillow, etc. Also, I did a Habitat for Humanity build in Jax last Saturday and had a really good time, got dirty, and a little tan. I only hit my thumb once with a hammer!
I ended up getting my only A in the class I was sure I was going to fail, and Bs in everything else.
I'm going home at the end of May until July, then will be moving into my apartment with my man in early August. Until then, I'm going to work at the library (again), this time at Hoke, where I'll be helping with all of the children's stuff because their children's person quit a while ago. Maybe I'll even do storytimes? Anyways, there will be some people in Martin County that I'm seriously missing and can't wait to see (ahem, Elg), and John Paul will get to come down and visit me all the time during June. Except when I'm going to the American Library Association conference for a week in June, where I'll see Julie Andrews, a premiere of a movie all about librarians in Hollywood, and Garrison Keillor, Khaled Hosseini (I just butchered his name), and a bunch of other great authors. I'm a dork, but I'm excited.
Okay. That's my summer. Should be good.

Dear Legs,
Stop hurting. You are not old, nor do I overwork you. I think you're just being whiny because you suck. If you do not stop killing me, I will have no choice but to chop you off like that crazy guy did in the book I just finished reading. Thank you.

1) January 18th was my one-year anniversary with John Paul. We made dinner together and it was AMAZING, the perfect end to a wonderful year. I'm not going to get supersappy, but he is just the best man for me and I didn't think I would be so lucky to fall for someone who makes me smile as much as John Paul does.
2) I made dean's list, and my mom surprised me with a new ipod shuffle, which is the cutest thing known to man. Today I used it on my jog and it was just awesome. Anyway, now I have to do well this semester, and that equals more time on school, which is never fun.
3) On Tuesday, I cut my hair supershort. I can feel the wind on my neck, and it's grrreat. I love it! If any girls get the Anthropologie catalogue, it's the same cut as the girl on the first couple of pages of the newest one. So easy and I haven't had short hair in a while, so it's a nice change.
4) I think I got another job. Maybe. It's at a reading center here in St. Augustine, and I'd be tutoring kids who aren't doing well in school. The coordinator is going to call me, so we'll see. It's only six hours a week, but it'd be easy and fun.
5) I'm addicted to Top Chef. It makes me want to spend all my money on food and aprons and spend all my time cooking.

I love new clothes! I got an amazing winter coat that is warm and black and comes down to about my knees, so it's warm. Urban Outfitters had a jewelry sale, and I made awesome cookies for Thanksgiving. I didn't have any dinner on Thursday because I had to leave early for work. Banana Republic officially is on my black list. I was there for nine hours today, from 5am-2pm, and my feet hurt. At least Nikki and Allie feel my pain, since they worked long and hard too.
Anyway, it was sweet seeing Jordan and trying to fix up drama between her and a friend, even though I'm awful dealing with that kind of stuff. Haley's awesome as usual, and I got to see my padre before he gets married. Did I mention that Haley and I are going to be his best men? We're going to wear mustaches while we walk the bridesmaids down the aisle.
The first season of America's Next Top Model kind of sucks.

why am i so addicted to the gilmore girls?
this weekend was awesome. john paul and i hit up atl. his uncle flew us up there and down, and it was noisy in the cockpit. it was so exciting! we were 11,000 feet in the air, and nothing was separating us from the clouds except some glass. it wasn't even super-thick glass.
you know why i love my boyfriend? because he takes me up so high i can touch clouds. well, not technically, but you get my drift.
anyway, it was good. i used four spanish words, which was pretty sweet, and ate mellow mushroom and went to cafe intermezzo and i watched john paul be sophisticated while drinking sambuca. and i met his older sister and best girl friend, kelly, who were both very very nice. so that's it. i've met all of his family here in the u.s.
school's good. got an a on my modern poetry midterm; i'm nervous about all the other ones though. hopefully i'll survive them.
everything else is pretty good. i've got no real complaints. work is okay, friends are okay, family's really good. i think i found a dress for my dad's wedding, and it's cheap.
kisses.

i can't wait:
to get dressed up for dinner
to see idlewild
to not be a stupid teenager anymore. i'm hoping that at midnight tonight a ton of wisdom will seep into my head through some sort of cosmic osmosis.

haley's close, john paul is closer, michelle is the closest. it's all really nice. this year will be awesome.

[Current Music |queen of apology-the sounds]

um...atlanta was a really good time.  john paul didn't push me in the water once, although i got a horrible headache from diving headfirst into the water from two stories up.  my legs are just now starting to peel because, believe it or not, i was a little tan afterwards.
i'm at the blake reference desk now, which is cool.  i'm slightly addicted to crossword puzzles, sad i know, but it keeps me occupied in between people asking where the nonfiction books are and setting up email accounts for the elderly folk.
tomorrow my dad and i are going to move some furniture into the apartment and i'm stoked! a)i want to actually have some stuff in there, b) i  get to see jp in the middle of the week, which almost seems luxurious after this summer and c) it's so cute!  plus, we're taking my dad's el camino with no a/c up there, so what's not to love?
tomorrow is also seven months for me and my wonderful, can't-get-enough-of-him, sweet-as-pie boyfriend who i am crazy in love with.
apparently all the cool kids work at the mcls now.  seriously.  i'm not talking about myself; i just really like the people my age at the library.  they're awesome and it makes me want to quit school and just stay there and work all the time.

can anyone explain to me why macy gray would have a greatest hits cd?
wasnt her one hit a bazillion years ago and completely overplayed to the point where no one wants to even recognize its existence anymore?
